Crave Pizza and Fresh Pasta Bar

Ticking off Crave Pizza and Fresh Pasta Bar in South Yarra has been one of my bucket list places for this year and it was definitely worth it! A tiny store front, decked out with hipster and funky decor, making it the perfect late night pit stop, or an affordable takeaway for those in this area of Melbourne. Homely food that satisfies your guilty cravings is the way I would sum up Crave!

Garlic Bread – $3.99

The good fat: A splash of herbs, the greasy goodness of butter and the crispiness of handmade bread – the ultimate garlic bread necessities. At only $4 – I can’t recommend this garlic bread enough! How else would you choose to start a pizza feast?

Quattro Formaggio + Prosciutto Half’n’Half

We couldn’t decide between prosciutto and quattro formaggio – so the easiest option was obviously to have a half’n’half combo! And boy was that a good decision. The molten cheesiness of the fior di latte, boursin cheese, bocconcini and parmesan is literally the epitome of a cheese lover’s heaven. On the other hand, the prosciutto pizza at Crave featured delicate rolls of authentic Italian prosciutto, perched on the juicy San Marzano tomato sauce. Nothing can really go wrong here – especially when everything is complemented by fresh pizza dough that was handmade right in front of our eyes.

Carbonara Gnocchi – $18.0

If it’s one thing that Crave has captured perfectly – it’s the decadence of cheese in their dishes, and the freshly made carbonara gnocchi is another example of this. What a winter warmer!

Hot Jam Donuts

The perfect way to round off a night at Crave, is to satisfy those sugar cravings with the Nutella and Hot Jam Donuts. Wow – from the toasty warmth of the donut, to the cascade of nutella and the hot ooze of jam that gives a satisfying “almost burnt my tongue” sensation… I don’t think this is a better midnight dessert!

The bad fat: Only by personal preference, the gnocchi was slightly on the chewier side for me, as I prefer ones that are slightly fluffier with the potato doughiness.
