O’Hey Cafe

O’Hey is a vibrant cafe tucked away in Coburg that is aesthetic in both its decor and its food! We opted for the Full Brekkie, the Tacos and their famous Hot Cake, which made for a great and uplifting start to what was a rainy Melbourne day.

Full Brekky – $23.0

The good fat: The Full Brekkie is an example of a classic dish done well. The potato hash in particular was a standout. It was crispy on the outside, but delicate and fluffy on the inside. It was fairly simple in terms of taste so it wasn’t as much as a standout when compared to the other two dishes – but the combo of blistered cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, halloumi and sautéed kale made for a wholesome, delicious Melbourne breakfast.

Tacos – $20.0

OMG the Tacos were amazing! Anything crispy fried chicken on the menu and I’m so there. I am usually a little concerned about tacos being on the drier side but the combo of cucumber, slaw and sour cream (smoky chipotle infused in fact!), with the crispy chicken made for a perfect blend of textures and flavours.

Hot Cake – $20.9

We were so excited to try this ricotta and orange hot cake. Even though there were so many different elements on top of the ricotta and orange, including a mix of fresh fruits, meringue, sorbet, granola and poached pear, the overall texture remained light and sweet – and, like the tacos, each bite was just simply delicious. The banana butterscotch liquid also gave that extra sweet kick! We can definitely see why the Hot Cake would be one of the most popular dishes!

The bad fat: NOTHING! Only that Coburg is a bit far for us so we can’t visit more often 😦
