Make sure you try the cocktails here!

Le Charme is an elegant, Pan-Asian restaurant in the heart of Chinatown that has an incredible $30 “Feed Me” menu that seriously makes you feel like you get your money’s worth of quality, fusion food – 4 entrees, 1 main and 1 dessert… what a great deal for a Melbourne city restaurant! With a uniquely styled interior, featuring lotus-like chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, Le Charme pulls off the casual restaurant vibes with a touch of class.

Wasabi Prawns

The good fat: As someone who’s still trying to get into loving wasabi, I was pleasantly surprised at how subtle the wasabi mayo sauce was – it gave the slightest spicy tanginess that wasabi offers whilst biting into a light, crisp shell and the juicy prawns inside. One of the highlights of our “Feed Me” at Le Charme! The veggie chicken san choy bao had such a delicious mix all wrapped in a fresh leaf of lettuce – nothing to go wrong here with this classic Asian snack!

Typhoon Soft Shell Crab

Soft shell crab always stands out on the menu for me, so the Hong Kong styled soft shell crab with its light and crispy batter, was flavoured heartily with golden garlic, red and green capsicum, and chilli flakes!

Saigon Curry Beef Brisket

Our shared main of Saigon curry beef brisket was a hearty, warm curry that we keenly mopped up with our roti – the beef was flaky and tender, the eggplant and potatoes inside were a great addition!

Pandan Panna Cotta

The pandan panna cotta is an absolute must if you’re eating at Le Charme – and luckily, it comes automatically in the Feed Me menu! I absolutely loved the richness of the pandan in this panna cotta without being too overpowering – and the addition of black sesame, popping candy, and brown sugar on the side is actually such a clever idea for some added sweetness and texture. Believe me – you’ll want to try this at Le Charme!

The bad fat: If I was being harsh, I think the chicken and prawn dumplings were a bit lacklustre – I found that the filling was very dense and almost flour-y. Personally, as a huge fan of coconut, I would’ve loved a stronger coconut flavour from the curry beef brisket too.
