TGI Fridays is a globally recognised American food chain so we were very excited to finally try the store location in Melbourne Central! The restaurant/bar has a lively location above Swanston Street and offered us a great taste into the delicious and classic, calorie-defying and oil-enriched American food.
The good fat: We absolutely loved the look of TGI Friday’s signature potato skins – crispy cups of potato deep fried with bacon and cheddar oozing over the top, what an intensely guilty, yet satisfying way to dive deep into our American dinner. The sour cream was surprisingly, a light dip for us to balance the melted cheese of the potato. SO GOOD!
The classic Tennessee whisky sauce that TGI Fridays is famous for was an easy option for us as we had not tried this restaurant before. The ribs were tender and a very filling portion size for the two of us to share. The stickiness and satisfaction of ripping the beef off the bone, with hints of the sweet and sour glaze that we soaked our ribs in was DELICIOUS! As not being a huge fan of potato chips, TGI Fridays had me sold – the thick potato chips on the side were fried so magically that just had me clamouring for more.
The bad fat: The sundae was definitely the let down – for $10 each sundae, we were expecting more 2 scoops of cheap vanilla icecream with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Definitely not worth getting! At least feature a brownie, or some sort of own unique twist that makes it worth $10.
