MOB CAMBERWELL: I’m gradually working my way through the Tinker, Penta, Clubhouse etc. Melbourne café monopoly so it was great to tick My Other Brother off the list. Just opposite the Camberwell Fresh Food Market, MOB Camberwell is a café that seems rather cosy from the outside, but in reality, extends into a large, vibrant, timber interior that seems to capture a crowd even on hump day. I was pleasantly happy with opting for a healthy option, the Californian salad to begin my day!

Beetroot Chia Pudding – $15.5
The good fat: I generally lower my expectations for salads (because they’ve never managed to impress me substantially, aside from the grain salad from Clubhouse Malvern and Penta Elsternwick, but I was quite happy with the flavours presented in the Californian salad! The hummus spread on top had a slight spicey, Middle Eastern type of flavour, which mixed well with the rest of the salad without overpowering it. The veggies were a soft, slightly crunchy blend in texture and in nicely sized portions that wasn’t too difficult to eat.

Californian Salad – $18.5 (w. smoked salmon)
The bad fat: A bit disappointed that they didn’t have a special panna cotta on this menu! Melbourne brunch is too competitive, and I felt that MOB’s sister cafes, namely Penta Elsternwick, Bentwood Cafe Fitzroy, Clubhouse Malvern, gave me a more memorable parting note.
SHOULD YOU GET FAT HERE?
Maybe- Haven’t really had a disappointing cafe experience on the Eastern suburbs yet but MOB didn’t leave any particularly memorable impressions given the caliber of Melbourne cafes.
FAT-O-METER: 4/5
