Buffalo Mozzarella Chilli Scramble w. Lamb, Rosemary, Garlic Sausage – $21.0

FRANK’S, CHELTENHAM: Cheltenham is not the first suburb that pops into your mind when you think of Melbourne brunch, which is why Frank’s makes the perfect brunch spot for locals in the Southeast side of Melbourne. Not only do they have the quality and taste of other Melbourne brunch hotspots, but they also have ingenuous creativity in assembling new and unique dishes! My top picks would be the Cherry Ripe Crepe (especially for dessert lovers) and the Chilli Scramble.

Cherry Ripe Crepe (Red Velvet Crepe, Chocolate Mousse, Icecream, Cherry Compote) – $19.0

The good fat: Interestingly, the highlight of the buffalo mozzarella chilli scramble was in fact the lamb, rosemary and garlic sausage! So for non-vegetarians, the sausage is a must-addition for the scramble! It had subtle herb flavours that worked well with the spiciness of the tenderly cooked eggs. The tomatoes also gave great bursts of juiciness to the overall plate.

The cherry ripe crepe is definitely their most unique option! The chocolate mousse inside was my favourite – soft and silky, complementing the thin, bright red crepe beautifully. Not to mention that the presentation was stunning too!

The fried enoki garnishing the top of the stuffed mushrooms were an instant favourite! Crispy, unique and crumbly, they gave both the perfect texture addition as well as a bit of eclecticness to the plate.

Mushroom (Stuffed Mushroom, Potato Rosti, Enoki, Parsnip Puree, Fried Egg) – $19.0

The bad fat: I was a bit underwhelmed by the mushroom dish. It sounded like it had so much potential in theory with the stuffed mushroom and potato rosti, but overall, the taste was a bit bland. The potato rosti for one, felt like it didn’t have any seasoning through it so it was definitely very tasteless.

YES – A good quality cafe in an area where brunch is just starting to seep its way in!
