Chargrilled Calamari – $10.5
THE CATCH, CARNEGIE: Koornang Road in Carnegie is a strip full of local, casual eateries but The Catch is a fish and chips shop that distinguishes itself from the rest – boasting a delicious range of fresh, home-made and well designed flavour combos featured throughout the menu. Carnegie locals and any Melbournians travelling through the area should definitely add this to their Melbourne must-eats list (especially seafood lovers like me!)

Fish Tacos (Lemon, Aioli, Salad and Chilli Mayo) – $16.0
The good fat: When a fish and chips shop has a market-like glass display of raw, fresh seafood produce, you know there’s good things to anticipate. Opening with an entree of chargrilled calamari – it was perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper, with a drizzle of lemon to snazz up the amazingly tender calamari strips that just melted in the mouth. The same perfection of texture applied to our crumbed calamari rings we snacked on at the end.

Bowler Burger (Fried Fish of the Day, Lettuce, Coleslaw and Home Made Aioli) – $12.0
The Bowler Burger is one of their top favourites – after all, Melbourne has yet to see such a epic fish burger! The dory was tender, with strips falling apart amongst the perfect amount of moisture it preserved. The bed of lettuce became the refreshing crunch, and the bun was rather like a brioche! As the fish of the day was the dory, the same fried fillets were in our fish tacos, but the salad this time instead featured a slightly spicy chilli mayo with the classic, pico de mayo Mexican salsa! Our tacos were absolutely a creative, and unique fusion between Mexican and casual Modern Australian, fast food dining that the Melbourne food scene has yet to pick up on.
The bad fat: I found the fish cakes a little too moist and mushy on the inside, perhaps due to presence of quite a bit of cabbage which was surprising! The burger was also a little dry as there was not sauce across the bottom of the bun.

Crumbed Calamari Ring + Fish Cake – $1.4/each + $3.0/each
SHOULD YOU GET FAT HERE?
