Converted from an old hair salon!

JAYS’ YOGHURT, RICHMOND: After a year of running a pop-up van along the busy hub of Swan St. in Richmond, Jay’s Yoghurt has now opened a beautifully renovated store in what used to be an old hair salon. What I love the most about the place is the care they take in creating unique flavour combinations, and the presentation of their frozen yogurt – making it by far, the most gourmet ones I’ve had. The best thing is that their frozen bar of various fruits and toppings that allow you to create your very own frozen yogurt.

The most stunning fro-yo I’ve ever seen!

The good fat: Unlimited toppings! With a huge variety of natural, delicious options such as goji berries, dates, figs, oreos, and all sorts of nuts, the toppings just allow you to create your own, customised yogurt without having to pay so much afterwards. I tried their new, lychee and pomegranate with wafer option, and was blown away by the presentation! It reminded me of such a tropical decor that I felt instantly transported to Hawaii. The swirls of pomegranate redness were beautiful.

My own berry bonanza creation!

The bad fat: It’s definitely quite expensive for frozen yogurt, but that pays for the unique customisable experience and unlimited toppings. The texture of the yogurt was unfortunately, not the smooth and rich blend that I enjoy, but rather an icy type that seemed more like sorbet than yogurt. Whilst the idea of creating your own is cool, suggested flavour combinations or a larger tub to place berries in would allow for a more delicious and wholesome result. The lychee and pomegranate fruitiness was also completely lost in my yogurt which was a bit disappointing as I would’ve loved that strong rich fruity flavour to permeate through.

Green smoothies are always perfect

Yes – It’s a fun and unique frozen yogurt option but definitely expensive for the experience
