LAVEZZI GELATO, CARLTON: That moment when you realise the best gelato you’ve ever had is in Melbourne even after travelling Europe for 5 months… there’s just something about Lavezzi Gelato that just ticks all the boxes for me! I can’t get enough of this place – it just so happens that it’s right next to the University of Melbourne so safe to say I’m going to be a loyal customer for many more years to come.
The good fat: Everything about the gelato is just so perfect – the texture is so perfectly smooth and creamy to complement the authenticity of the flavours. The roasted hazelnut is definitely a stand out for me. Not only is the hazelnut just simply aromatic, the roasting process definitely elevates it to another level – every bite of the gelato just makes my tastebuds tingle with excitement! It’s quite indescribable.
A few special mentions must go to the: peanut butter and nutella, dark chocolate sorbet, tiramisu and pistachio, but the list goes on and on. They also have a white AND dark chocolate tap that allows you to coat the inside of your cone… seriously how can this place get any better.
The bad fat: NOTHING
