Swiss Chocolate Maestro

LINDT CHOCOLATE CAFE, CBD: I remember my initial excitement when Lindt cafes first started popping up around Australia a few years ago – Lindt was one of the chocolates that I grew up with, and the fact that this luxuriously smooth chocolate was now being incorporated into desserts just made me drool. I’ve always loved the rainbow display of all the Lindor chocolate balls in the store section out at the front, and the cafe area on the higher steps inside. Unfortunately, as a dessert cafe, it fails to impress me the same way their simple, store-bought wrapped chocolates do. However, their standard vanilla icecream, is always a delicious, creamy highlight when it accompanies all the various desserts they serve!

The good fat: This is probably my favourite dessert at Lindt – we had it during one of their promotional periods so it was only $6.0 – the same price as an icecream scoop! Not only was the chocolate luxuriously rich and smooth, just as they use in their chocolates, the molten centre was so warm and soft on the inside – just like eating melted chocolate! The ganache on the outside was a bit lighter and creamier. Vanilla icecream was definitely a necessary addition, as the strong vanilla scent made it beautiful on its own, but even better when combined with the dense chocolate fondant. It meant that neither overpowered each other, where the cool creaminess went well with the warmth and sweetness of the chocolate. A delicious indulgence!

The bad fat: Perhaps a small praline on the top for an added crunchy texture? But delicious nonetheless

Lindor Salted Caramel Frappuccino – $9.0

This was such a tall, tall glass!

The good fat: A very generous portion size but it is quite expensive so I think that’s fair and presented nicely in a tall, vertical glass. The cream on top is always a quintessential component of a frappuccino as it cuts out the sweetness.

The bad fat: To be honest, not a huge fan of this frappuccino – the salted caramel was very sweet and not blended out smoothly so there would be chunks of sweetness in some areas but not others. The caffeine was too strong for me, I guess it’s supposed to be a frappuccino but I was expecting a bit more of the rich, chocolate to come through instead. I wouldn’t get it again.

YES – But only for the ice-cream 🙂
