KYO TEAHOUSE, EMPORIUM: A relatively newly opened dessert bar in the lower Emporium Foodcourt, Kyo Teahouse specialises in pretty cheap, simple matcha desserts for Asian dessert lovers (like me!). It’s usually quite busy and I love how they have different graded matcha with varying levels of bitterness for people to try. Overall, I found their menu quite simple, with a good variety of desserts and an enjoyable, light snack for friends getting together.
Houjicha Matcha Swirl Sundae – $8.5

The icecream is the best bit!
The good fat: A pretty simple sundae with all the elements of a classic Asian sundae – red bean, mochi cornflakes, cream and herbal jelly. There was also a bit of the matcha cake, which added a nice and dry soft spongy texture to balance the moisture of the ice cream. The ice cream itself was flavoured beautifully – with the houjicha giving a nice, roasted touch. It was creamy and the red bean gave it an extra kick of sweetness. As usual, I always love the chewy, subtle sweetness of the mochi!
The bad fat: Not a huge fan of jelly and there was quite a large amount at the bottom – green-coloured but not really the matcha flavour. Also would’ve loved more icecream compared to condiments instead as a better proportion. A little small for the price as it was simply in a medium sized cup.
