+39 PIZZERIA, MELBOURNE CBD: Popular Italian joint right in the centre of the Melbourne CBD, 39 Pizzeria has a really cosy, homely vibe with dim lighting, and a large chalkboard of the daily specials. The waitresses are helpful and happy to offer suggestions of the popular menu items and the speed of service is quite fast. Even though we just tried the margherita, we could gauge the overall, delicious quality of the pizza with its crispy base and great balance of flavours – only perhaps a little more expensive than other restaurants.
Margherita Pizza (Italian Tomato Salsa, Fior di Latte and Basil) – $18.0

Look at those pools of melted cheese in the fiery tomato orange-ness..
The good fat: Gorgeous pizza base with a lovely, crispy and puffy outer rim but beautifully delicate inside that just balanced the simplistic cheesiness of the topping perfectly. The texture was perfect and it’s also a huge plus when the pizza is cut properly to fit in your mouth. The cheese was melt-in-your-mouth and it balanced well with the fresh, sourness of the tomato paste in a way that wasn’t overpowering. The basil worked nicely to give a herby, Italian touch and added nice green colours to the pizza for aesthetics. Also very considerate of them to place the pizza on a metal pizza stand as the table is too small.
The bad fat: As I mentioned before, this place is a little more expensive compared to others. I think I would also like a little bit more complexity in flavours, perhaps a bit more seasoning/lemon acidity just as an extremely light, subtle addition.
FAT-O-METER: 4/5
SHOULD YOU GET FAT HERE?
YES – Delicious pizza, slightly overpriced but I would go back and try their famous mushroom pizza (my friend doesn’t like mushrooms T_T)
