THE MERRYWELL, CROWN: After being awarded the best burger house in Melbourne for a couple of years, this place was a must try for an avid burger eater like me! Overall a lovely, greasy burger bun with a nicely sized patty inside, altogether complemented by a deliciously huge milkshake giving us a satisfying, Americanesque meal – however, nothing special that would bribe me to go back again.
The Merrywell 2.0 (Beef Patty, Bacon, Grilled Onion, American Cheese, Lettuce, Fresh Tomato, Pickles, Special Sauce, Ketchup, Mustard) – $17.0
The good fat: Great combination of veggies and meat with melted cheese all over. The moisture levels were perfect and the veggies gave a fresh crunch. The bun was easy to cut through, warm and soft, and the entire burger could actually fit in my mouth for once – so a great practical advantage!
The bad fat: The patty wasn’t as juicy or melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness of Grand Trailer so a little disappointing as it didn’t tantalise my tastebuds as much I hoped it would. Couldn’t really taste anything special about the “Special Sauce” either…
Chocolate Milkshake – $7.5
The good fat: Loved the huge dollop of cream on top, waffle cone that was crunchy and the dashes of sprinkles and cocoa powder. Nice presentation that really drove home the diabetes-inducing vibe. It was a nice level of chocolatey sweetness with a smooth, creamy texture.
The bad fat: Again, nothing spectacular about the taste and the lollies/MMs on top seemed a bit stale…
SHOULD YOU GET FAT HERE?
EHH: Satisfying meal but nothing super amazing in terms of taste or presentation.
